Designed by NBBJ Architects and constructed by McCarthy Building Companies, these buildings, are the world’s first 3D – Seismically Isolated Hospitals. Construction commenced in 2016 on the new “State of the Art” 267’ tall, 990,000 sf facility. Completed in November 2020 and opened in 2021, the nine-story and sixteen-story Towers share a common pedestal of five-stories, and combined, have approximately 25 thousand tons of steel. The new Medical Center houses 350 beds for adult patients, while the new Children’s Tower gives Children’s Hospital a total of 373 beds.
