Designed by Corgan – Gensler and constructed by Turner / PCL Joint Venture, the Midfield Satelite Concourse (MSC) which consists of nearly 1,000,000 sf, was the next significant effort in the ongoing modernization and expansion of Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). This project, completed in 2020, involved a complex ‘phasing’ plan during construction to enable the work and the flow of a busy airport. Overall, it enhanced, improved, and expanded international travel through LAX, and facilitated additional wide-body aircraft gates to serve current and future demand. Passengers can connect to and from the MSC to Tom Bradley International Terminal via three sets of moving walkways in the tunnel located below the aircraft taxiways.
